Fernando Llorca, drummer and composer from Vigo. He studied at the Taller de Musicos de Barcelona and expanded his jazz knowledge with the American drummer Billy Hart. Take combo lessons from teachers Richie Beirach, Dave Liebman, Ron McClure, and Bill Dobbins.

He began his artistic career towards the end of the 70s. During this period, he participated as a founding member of two pioneering groups of their kind in Galicia: Outeiro (1979) and Clunia Jazz (1982).

During the 80s and 90s he maintained constant activity with Clunia and various prestigious formations throughout the Spanish scene. He is also awarded for his participation with Clunia and María João Quinteto in the Jazzaldia Festival and in the TVE program “Jazz entre amigos”.

Throughout those years he worked with prominent jazz artists and groups: Gary Smulyan Quartet, Paolo Fresu, Thomas Chapin Quartet, Joe Fonda Trio, María João Quinteto, Mike Rabinowitz Quartet, Jorge Pardo Cuarteto, Chano Domínguez Trío, Jean Luc Vallet, Joachim Kühn, Perico Sambeat, Jordi Bonell Quartet, Kenny Wheeler, Pedro Ruy-Blas Quartet, Andrzej Olejniczak Quartet, Scott Hamilton, among others.

He has an album of his own formation and has participated in numerous recordings, both as a soloist and as a companion.

During his professional career, he always maintained a constant pedagogical activity. He gave private classes to a multitude of students from all over Galicia. He also held educational courses, seminars and concerts.

Since 2007 he has been developing his academic work at the Superior Conservatory of Music of A Coruña within the specialty of Jazz.
